“Solving the Puzzle Under the Sea: Marie Tharp Maps the Ocean Floor” is a beautifully illustrated biography about scientist Marie Tharp and her efforts to map the
seafloor. This book shares her experiences as a female scientist in the
40s and 50s, and what she overcame to meet her goals. Her process of mapping the seafloor contributed to the
understanding of continental drift/plate tectonics that we still hold today.
Did you know that the Learning & Teaching Book of the Month is shared with our schools in town? Our goals with this outreach are; to provide opportunities for integrating the STEM themes with literacy features, to provide quality book titles to our schools, and build our outreach to the staff and our wider community. We hope you will join us in sharing these great titles!
